This is a small snippet from the film made on the measures taken to address the Mental Health in community in the selected regions of Uttarakhand post Himalayan Tsunami of Kedarnath in 2013.
The project was undertaken by Swami Rama Himalayan University and CBM to train the grass root health workers to provide Psychological First Aid in their work fields and identify and report more severe cases such as PTSD to the psychologists in the nearby Hospitals.
Usually after a hazard or disaster; relief materials and aids are provided by many but few know how to deal with the effects of the mental trauma in such situations. This has been a first of its initiative to train the local health workers to sensitize, identify and address the needs of the community for creating awareness towards maintaining mental health after encountering losses at such a large scale.
The complete film showcases the steps taken; training provided and the difference it can make in the mental health of the people living in the Himalayan region that’s so prone to natural hazards.
